UMCI is an authoritative analytic and research center, a source of useful knowledge and credible information on the issues of information, media and related social processes for people and institutions (government bodies, NGO, donors, media, education institutions).
The mission of the UMCI:
to assist people, the state, media and non-governmental organizations in making well-grounded, reasonable decisions based on knowledge, information and common sense.
In 2020, the UMCI started the implementation of a three-year project “Methodological training of journalism teachers in universities” in partnership with DW Akademie with the financial support of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ). Within the framework of this project, the Journalism Teachers’ Academy (JTA) was established, and the first training semester was successfully completed.
The project involves a group of trainers certified by DW Akademie. They possess innovative coaching techniques, including distance education for adults. In addition, the trainers are the experts in a range of media-related subjects, such as countering mis/disinformation, media management, social media, etc.
On 10th of February, 2021, UMCI launches the JTA.com.ua website, which is to become the major educational platform for teachers and students of journalism faculties.
